CALIFORNIA, Md. – A sign-waving event featuring Democrats from across Southern Maryland took to the streets of St. Mary’s County on Saturday afternoon, to show support for the recently nominated presidential candidate, Joe Biden[D], among other topics.
The peaceful demonstration of Biden fans did get heated at one point, when a lone Donald Trump supporter started an argument with them, claiming that they “didn’t know their history.”
The counter-demonstrator could be heard saying, “Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by a Democrat and a Democrat [Andrew Johnson] took over the office of president when Lincoln was assassinated.”
Andrew Johnson[D] ran on the National Union ticket with Abraham Lincoln[R], and was forced to take on the responsibilities of being president after Lincoln was assassinated in 1865.
A few Biden supporters argued back with the Trump supporter, but most continued waving signs at passing cars at the intersection of Route 235/Route 4, in front of the Wawa gas station.
