Single-Vehicle Crash At Wentworth Nursery Under Investigation

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A single-vehicle crash at Wentworth Nursery on Oakville Road Tuesday afternoon prompted a swift emergency response after the car struck a gated fence and a propane tank.

Maryland State Police from the Leonardtown Barrack and emergency personnel responded to the scene on Decemeber 3, 2024, around 3:25 p.m. following a 911 call reporting the incident. According to a preliminary investigation, the vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons before colliding with a fence, structure and a propane tank on the nursery’s property.

The impact caused a gas leak, prompting HAZMAT teams and personnel from the local gas company to secure the scene and shut off the gas. No additional structures on the property were damaged.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, was transported by ambulance to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of injuries. The severity of the injuries is not yet known.
