ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. – Week three of “Slow Down St. Mary’s”, a joint initiative between the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police, and the St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s Office continues.

Am I the only other driver that notices MORE cell phone use than speeders? Those ticket numbers should reflect the opposite.
Yes you’re the only one, people drive like absolute maniacs here, 20+ over the speed limits
How about starting with forcing the police officers themselves? There is no reason they need to be traveling 15 mph or more over the posted speed limit when they are not traveling with their lights and sirens on.
Speed cameras will allow officers to focus on other traffic related items
Agree. Speed and stoplight cameras could be a “Force multiplier”. Both MSP & SMCSO are having problems hiring qualified applicants too. Technology could help if some stubborn people would open their eyes!!
Speed cameras will not focus on distracted drivers…you know, the ones causing the traffic delays and accidents.

Great job Officers!
I wonder how they find the “move over” violators because EVERY TIME I come up and down 5 & 235, there is always some slug holding up the left lane!
And I agree with the cell phone comment. Unless they see the cops coming, I see dozens of drivers blatantly holding their phone in one hand while moving.
I’m also glad to see that the Baynet needs financial help. Serves you right! I’ll say this: If you turn off your censors forever, and let the truth be told here, I’ll support you monthly. (I should live long enough to see that, right?)
the move over law is for us to move farther away from stopped vehicles on the shoulders. not for someone going slow in the left lane.
Not an interstate… more of a speedway
I appreciate the warnings. I like to think those weren’t just reserved for CDL drivers.
I’ve got to ask, what is this 77 other about? What is 197 other about?
how are those that are for running red lights going to be verified? I bet you if you go back + check, the lights not red anymore. (What I tell you?)
uh…..if they saw them do it and its on their dashcam, it kind of a wrap for the redlight/stop sign runner.
