SOLOMONS, Md. — A Calvert County woman is facing multiple animal cruelty charges after authorities alleged she failed to provide proper care for several dogs while operating a Dalmatian breeding business.
Amber Leigh Spradlin, 44, of Solomons, has been charged with nine misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty for failing to provide proper care and one additional charge related to operating a kennel or breeding establishment without a required license, according to court records.
The charges stem from an investigation that began on or about Jan. 22, 2026, at a residence in Solomons. On Feb. 5, 2026, animal control officers returned to the home on Creston Lane to follow up on licensing requirements connected to the breeding operation.
According to charging documents, officers reported a strong odor of ammonia inside the residence and documented concerns related to housing conditions for multiple Dalmatian-type dogs kept at the property. Authorities noted that some areas had been recently cleaned and that county licenses had been obtained for the dogs.
Court records state Spradlin operates under the name “CarraigelHill Dalmatians” and advertises puppies for sale at prices ranging between $1,750 and $2,250. The advertisement indicated that all breeding dogs live at her residence.
Each animal cruelty count carries a potential penalty of up to 90 days in jail and/or a $1,000 fine if convicted. The licensing-related charge is listed separately under county code provisions.
A summons was issued on Feb. 11, 2026. Spradlin is scheduled to appear for a preliminary inquiry hearing on April 6, 2026 in Calvert District Court.

I am so sick of this, everyone cares about animals more than Humans being. This is nonsense it seems like Human being don’t matter.
The way a human treats children who are in that individual’s care as well as companion species and wildlife in general is usually an indication of how they would treat a fellow human. My suggestion is to read the articles in the Baynet that have to do with people helping people. There are folks in the heart of Lexington Park who are feeding people who are struggling, there is a group who are putting together care packages for some girls… go help those people or if you need the help contact someone, there are groups and individuals who are helping to lift those up who are way down now. Peace.
