LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Holy Face Church in Great Mills will host its 30th annual Southern Maryland Spring Festival from Thursday, May 1, through Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds, marking three decades of seasonal fun and community celebration.

A tradition since 1994, with a brief pause during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Spring Festival is the largest annual fundraiser for Holy Face Church. Each year, it draws thousands of attendees from across the region and beyond, offering carnival rides, family activities, live entertainment and unique shopping opportunities.

This year’s festival features crowd-favorite carnival rides by Snyder’s Attractions, a massive indoor yard sale, raffles, hayrides, games for kids and artisan vendors. Attendees can also look forward to a car show and tractor pull, a flower sale and pull tabs. Food lovers can enjoy festival fare such as lemonade slushies, homemade sweets and a variety of classic treats.

A major highlight for 2025 is award-winning magician Jay Mattioli, who will perform his “Electrifying Magic” show twice that Saturday. Mattioli, who was featured on “America’s Got Talent” and “Showtime at the Apollo,” has performed around the globe.

Festival hours are:

  • Thursday, May 1: 5–10 p.m. (free admission, carnival rides only)
  • Friday, May 2: 5–10 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 3: 10 a.m.–10 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 4: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 6 to 12, and free for children under 6. Guests who bring a nonperishable canned food item will receive $1 off admission. Carnival ride bracelets and tickets are available for purchase on-site.

The Southern Maryland Spring Festival continues to grow thanks to strong volunteer support, community sponsorships and a dedicated parish. The event brings together families, friends and neighbors each spring to enjoy the best of local culture, entertainment and fellowship.
