LEONARDTOWN, Md. — March 2025 marks the beginning of the 43rd Women’s History Month, recognizing the significant contributions of women in business, law, politics, education, science, the U.S. Armed Forces, medicine, community service, and the arts.

The theme for 2025, “Moving Forward Together: Women Educating and Inspiring Generations,” highlights and celebrates women who have mentored, led, and shaped future generations.

Women’s History Month was officially proclaimed during the St. Mary’s County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, March 4. Commissioner Mike Hewitt, speaking on behalf of the board, expressed their shared support for the proclamation. He added on a personal note, “I’m one guy who’s just blessed to have so many wonderful women in my life.”

Several members of the St. Mary’s County Commission for Women attended the ceremony, including Taylor Spencer Davis, who announced the annual Women’s History Month Brunch. The event, open to the public, will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at The White Rose (21030 Point Lookout Road, Callaway, Md. 20620). It will be catered by Personalized Touch Catering. More information is available on the St. Mary’s County Commission for Women Facebook page.

Davis summed up the spirit of the month, saying, “Thank you to all the awesome women in St. Mary’s County for just being awesome.”
