The Education Association of St. Mary’s County (EASMC) and the Collective Employees Association of St. Mary’s County plan to announce their endorsement of Michael Hewitt for St. Mary’s County Commissioner President on Aug 1, the Hewitt campaign said.
Both organizations are advocates for the students and employees of St. Mary’s County Public Schools. EASMC is the local affiliate of the Maryland State Teachers Association and the National Education Association.
“I’m thrilled to have their support and I look forward to working with these groups to win the primary in September,” said Michael Hewitt. “We have to remember our county is growing at a remarkable rate. As part of that, we need an experienced Commissioner President who can both guard against crowded classrooms and ensure a safe and modern environment for our county’s great teaching and support staff.”
