Waldorf, MD – State authorities are investigating two vehicle fires that were discovered over the weekend in Waldorf. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, both blazes appear to have been deliberately set. One fire occurred on Hamilton Place and resulted in $2,500 damage to a 2006 Ford Fusion. No injuries were reported.

โ€œUnknown suspect[s] entered the unlocked vehicle and ignited ordinary combustible materials on the front passenger seat,โ€ a deputy fire marshal reported. Investigators reported the incident occurred sometime after 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5. The owner of the vehicleโ€”identified as Necole Hammโ€”notified authorities of the fire.

A fire set inside a Chevrolet Camaro SS parked at residence on Dorset Drive was discovered and reported Sunday, Aug. 6. Investigators reported the fire occurred between the evening hours of Aug. 3 and afternoon hours of Aug. 6. โ€œUnknown suspect[s] made entry into the vehicle and attempted to set the vehicle on fire by igniting a piece of paper on the floorboard,โ€ a deputy fire marshal reported.

Damage to the Camaro, whose owner is identified as Joseph L. Dorsey, was $10 to contents only.
