Waldorf, MD – A stolen vehicle was discovered on fire by a local police patrol unit in Charles County late Tuesday afternoon, May 30 and state investigators have determined the car was deliberately set ablaze.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, a 2010 Mercedes-Benz S550 was discovered around 5 p.m. on Wendy Lane in Waldorf.
โThe vehicle was reportedly stolen,โ a deputy fire marshal reported. โThe investigation revealed it was abandoned in the remote area and intentionally set on fire. The fire burned itself out long before the patrol units discovered it while on routine patrol.โ
The fire marshalโs office identified the vehicleโs owner as Larry Francois. The fire was started inside the vehicle. Damage is estimated at $10,000. No injuries were reported. At this time no arrests have been made.
