WASHINGTON — An Oxon Hill, Maryland, man has been formally charged in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred during a large fight in Northwest Washington last year, authorities announced.
Shawn Lamar Conway, 50, of Oxon Hill, was charged Feb. 23, 2026, in D.C. Superior Court with second-degree murder while armed. Following a preliminary hearing held Feb. 18, Judge Dayna Dayson found probable cause to proceed with the charge and ordered Conway to remain detained at the D.C. Jail.
The case stems from a stabbing reported shortly before 4 a.m. on Sept. 13, 2025, in the 2000 block of 14th Street NW. Third District officers responded around 3:48 a.m. for reports of a stabbing and located an adult male suffering from stab wounds. The victim, later identified as 34-year-old Jermaine Foster Jr., of Northwest D.C., was transported by D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead despite lifesaving efforts.
Investigators determined the stabbing occurred during a large fight. Three additional individuals transported themselves to a hospital with minor injuries.
According to court documents, Conway was identified as the suspect through witness interviews, surveillance video and social media postings. Authorities allege he stabbed Foster multiple times during the altercation.
Conway was initially arrested Nov. 20, 2025, pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court warrant. He was located in Suitland, Maryland, by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and transported to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch, where he was charged.
The case is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nebiyu Feleke.
Conway remains in custody as proceedings continue in Superior Court.
