BELTSVILLE, Md. — The United States Park Police announced Tuesday they have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed Lisa Martin, 50, of Riverdale, and injured another bicyclist last month in Beltsville.
The crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 8 along Soil Conservation Road near Beaver Dam Road within the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center. Martin died at the scene, and a second cyclist was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Investigators arrested Maboh Ndimah on Oct. 31 after locating the suspect vehicle with help from the public, according to Park Police. The investigation remains ongoing.
A GoFundMe campaign organized by friends of the family raised more than $90,000 before closing. Martin, described as a devoted mother, is survived by her two children — MJ, a communications student at the University of Maryland, and Alex, an 11th grader at Poolesville High School.
The fundraiser’s organizers said Martin’s children depended on her for daily needs and educational expenses, and remembered her as a loving, energetic parent who “was so loved by so many and will be missed by all.”
