CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. — A man accused of planting incendiary devices outside a Prince George’s County fire station earlier this month was taken into custody Saturday morning after firefighters spotted him across the street from their station.
Authorities identified the suspect as 36-year-old Slater Chaia of District Heights. Police said on August 30, 2025, Chaia was arrested without incident by patrol units near Fire/EMS Station 805 and later transported to the county Department of Corrections, where he is being held without bond.
Investigators said Chaia faces multiple charges stemming from the Aug. 13 incident, including possession of a destructive device, possession of incendiary material with intent to create a destructive device, and reckless endangerment. The most serious counts carry penalties of up to 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
