On February 6, 2011 deputies responded to the intersection of Budds Creek Road and Thompson corner Road in Mechanicsville, for a report of a motor vehicle collision.
As deputies were speaking with one of the drivers, Nicholas Matthew Clark, 18 of Mechanicsville, they detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage upon Clark’s breath and person. Clark was given a standardized field sobriety test. As a result of that test Clark was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol.
A search incident to the arrest resulted in the deputy recovering a baggie of suspected marijuana and controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia. Clark was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.
