LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — The Three Oaks Center, located at 46905 Lei Drive in Lexington Park, MD, is asking for the community’s help in making the holidays “extra special for those who are less fortunate and facing hard times in our community.”
“The Three Oaks Center is a nonprofit organization that offers programs providing housing and stabilization services to veterans, the homeless, at-risk individuals, and families in need. They provide rapid rehousing and permanent supportive housing for men, women, and children, as well as dedicated support for veterans and victims of domestic violence,” the center said in a statement.
The organization gathers families’ wish lists and distributes them to volunteers who “adopt” a family during the holiday season. Items on the lists vary depending on each family’s specific needs.
“As of Nov. 26, 2024, we still have nine families in need of loving homes willing to adopt and help for Christmas,” Sasha Seenath, the Three Oaks Center’s executive director, said. “This changes daily depending on the new cases.”
Seenath added, “We are truly thankful for the many families in our community who generously give of themselves to spread light and hope to others. Your kindness and compassion make such a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us.”
If you are interested in adopting a family for Christmas this year, please contact Florence Brooks at fbrooks@threeoakscenter.org.
If you are unable to adopt a family but would still like to help make a family’s holiday special, you can donate using a credit card at threeoakscenter.org and comment “family” in the memo to direct your donation.
