NEWBURG, Md. — A 59-year-old man was flown to a Washington, D.C., trauma center Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, after a truck fell on him in Charles County.

Emergency dispatchers received the call at 12:35 p.m. for a traumatic injury in the 10600 block of Pleasant View Place in Newburg. The man was initially trapped but had been freed before first responders arrived.

EMS personnel reported he suffered significant bleeding to his face, arms and abdomen. Maryland State Police Trooper 2 landed nearby and transported him to MedStar Washington Hospital Center in critical condition.

School officials at Higdon Elementary were notified during the response, a standard precaution when aircraft landings occur in the vicinity.

The incident is being treated as a significant event.
