St. Leonard, MD – A single-vehicle crash occurred Saturday morning, Dec. 24 in the St. Leonard area, Calvert County authorities reported. According to Captain Dave Payne of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 10 a.m. on northbound Solomons Island Road and Calvert Beach Road. The vehicle, driven by a 23-year-old woman, left the roadway and struck the “Welcome to St. Leonard” sign. The vehicle then struck a tree and flipped over.
Payne told TheBayNet.com the woman behind the wheel “doesn’t have a driver’s license. She said she never has.” The unidentified woman was able to exit the vehicle on her own. She was ground-transported to Prince George’s Shock Trauma.
Payne reported the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the driver lost control.
