Hollywood, MD – One adult and two children were displaced as a result of a house fire Tuesday, Aug. 11 on Ruff Ruff Lane in Hollywood, state officials reported.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m. after it was discovered by the homeowner. Forty firefighters from Hollywood, Bay District, Leonardtown, Second District, Seventh District, Prince Frederick and Solomons were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze. Crews had the fire under control in 15 minutes. There were no injuries.

“The accidental fire was a result of an overheated lamp igniting combustibles in the dining room/office area,” Dfm. Melissa Decker stated.

Damage to the two-story, single-family residence is estimated at $200,000.

Decker and Dfm. Zack Dell conducted the investigation.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants. The fire marshal identified the homeowner as Justin Smith.

Hollywood, MD – On Tuesday, Aug. 11 around 1 p.m. volunteer firefighters from Hollywood, Bay District, Solomons, Valley Lee and Seventh District made a quick attack to a house which had a potential consuming fire.

Emergency Medical Services volunteer personnel from Hollywood, Leonardtown and Lexington Park were there to provide assistance.

Upon arrival they found smoke coming from the eaves and swiftly found the source and extinguished it. The rapid response was due to a prior call in the Hickory Hills subdivision which had Fire apparatuses fully staffed. Units worked on the scene for an hour and requested SMECO and the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office.

Neighboring fire stations provided coverage to the area while the incident occurred
