Animal rescue Calvert
Animal Rescue Corps recently found 54 animals living in deplorable conditions at a property in Ohio County, KY.

Sunderland, MD โ€“ Officials with the Humane Society of Calvert County (HSCC) have contacted The Bay Net with word of a daring rescue and the safe passage of several dogs who have found refuge in Southern Maryland.

According to a missive from HSCC representative Kirstyn Northrup Cobb, the rescue was executed by Animal Rescue Corps Friday, Jan. 30 in Ohio County, KY with the aid of that jurisdictionโ€™s sheriffโ€™s office. The corps and sheriffโ€™s deputies โ€œraided a property containing 54 animals in deplorable conditions. These dogs, including newborn litters, were living in excessive piles of feces and trash and had no access to water other than rain water. The dogs were extremely dirty and had heavy internal and external parasites.โ€

On Sunday, Feb. 8, Cobb stated, 21 of the rescued dogs were transported safely to HSCC headquarters in Sunderland. The transport vehicles were provided by Prince Frederick Chrysler Jeep Dodge. The dealership also provided the drivers.
Cobb stated the saved animals โ€œwill all be vetted and behaviorally assessed and will soon be made available for adoption.โ€

On Tuesday, Feb. 10, Cobb said the dogs, mostly mixed breeds ranging in age from seven weeks to five years, were sent to a local animal hospital and will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped.

Assessing the behavior of each rescued dog is important since the society aims to have a rescued dog adopted into a home “that will go with their personality,” Cobb said.ย
