Waldorf, MD โ A single-story manufactured home was destroyed by an early-morning fire in Charles County Sunday, Jan. 10, state officials reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, 40 firefighters from Waldorf, La Plata, Potomac Heights, Indian Head and Bryans Road, along with several Prince Georgeโs county stations were dispatched to the blaze on Hoppy Place in Waldorf.
โThe fire completely destroyed the home,โ stated Dfm. John Nelson. โThe occupant was displaced and is being assisted by both family and the American Red Cross.โ
The fire originated in the kitchen. The cause of the blaze, which was discovered by the occupant around 5:30 a.m., has not been determined. Nelson reported a smoke alarm was present in the dwelling but did not activate.
The estimated loss totals $70,000. No injuries were reported.
Nelson identified the owner/occupant as Charles Proctor.

Waldorf, MD – At 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, volunteers from Company 12, Company 3 and surrounding stations were alerted to Hoppy Place for a structure fire. According to a report from the Westlake crews responded and arrived to find a trailer well involved. “Crews got a quick knock down but remained on scene for several hours for overhaul” the report stated. ย
