PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. An Upper Marlboro woman is facing multiple assault and trespassing charges across three Maryland counties after a series of alleged incidents at hospitals spanning nearly a month. Andrea Delores Lomax, 42, is accused of assaulting hospital staff and law enforcement officers during multiple encounters in which she allegedly refused to leave medical facilities after being discharged.

According to charging documents filed in Calvert County District Court, the most recent incident occurred on Aug. 31, 2025, when Lomax returned to Calvert Health Medical Center one day after being removed from and banned from the property. Court records state that a nurse contacted deputies when Lomax refused to leave Emergency Room 14 after being discharged, reportedly demanding the return of personal property from the previous day’s arrest.

Police reports allege that when Deputy Campbell and Corporal Kelly attempted to escort Lomax from the facility, she became irate and began yelling. When informed she would be arrested for trespassing if she did not leave voluntarily, Lomax allegedly refused to comply and resisted arrest.

During the arrest, charging documents state Lomax pulled her left arm away from Corporal Kelly’s grasp and struck him in the face with an open hand, nearly knocking off his eye protection. The report states the impact left a visible scratch mark on the right side of his face. Lomax also allegedly attempted to kick the officer but missed.

After being handcuffed and fitted with a spit mask due to prior reported spitting behavior, Lomax allegedly managed to lift the mask while being wheeled out of the emergency room and spit on the nurse. According to the report, the saliva landed on the upper portion of the nurse’s left arm and face.

Once placed in the patrol vehicle, police state Lomax tore holes in multiple spit masks and repeatedly spit throughout the prisoner compartment, covering multiple areas with saliva and causing an estimated $500 in damage to county property.

The Aug. 31 incident followed a similar encounter on Aug. 30, 2025, at the same hospital. Court records allege Lomax had been discharged but refused to leave Emergency Room 14 despite multiple requests. Deputies reportedly detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the room.

During that arrest, charging documents state Lomax pulled away from officers attempting to handcuff her and had to be physically restrained. When she refused to walk, officers placed her in a wheelchair to remove her from the facility. While being transported, she allegedly spit directly in Deputy Campbell’s face, with saliva reportedly landing on his face and in his eye.

A third incident occurred on Aug. 4, 2025, at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia. According to police reports, Lomax had been admitted voluntarily for evaluation but refused to leave after discharge. When a hospital security officer attempted to gather her belongings for transport to transitional housing, Lomax allegedly grabbed the items and punched him in the face with a closed fist.

During the property inventory from the Aug. 30 arrest, deputies allegedly discovered three identification cards belonging to other individuals in Lomax’s possession.

Lomax faces six charges from the Aug. 31 incident, including two counts of second-degree assault, trespassing on private property, malicious destruction of property, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. The Aug. 30 incident resulted in charges of trespassing, second-degree assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. The Howard County case includes one count of second-degree assault.

Second-degree assault carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $2,500 fine. Trespassing on private property carries up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine. Resisting arrest carries up to three years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Malicious destruction of property under $1,000 carries up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine. Disorderly conduct carries up to 60 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Judge Robyn Riddle presided over Lomax’s bail review hearing on Sept. 2, 2025, setting bond at $2,500 for the Aug. 31 charges after initially holding her without bond. The Calvert County Public Defender’s Office has entered an appearance on her behalf and filed motions requesting a speedy trial and demanding discovery of evidence.

Officer trials for the Calvert County cases are scheduled for Oct. 21, 2025, at 1 p.m. in Calvert County District Court. The Howard County case is scheduled for trial on Oct. 23, 2025, at 1:15 p.m. in Howard County District Court.

The State’s Attorney’s Offices for Calvert County and Howard County are prosecuting their respective cases.
