
LEONARDTOWN, Md. – The Board of Directors of Visit St. Mary’s MD (VSMMD)
has named Liz Mildenstein, experienced public affairs and strategic communications
professional, as its Executive Director. Mildenstein assumed the role at the nonprofit
tasked with promoting St. Mary’s County as a destination for visitors on March 20, 2024.
“On behalf of the board members of Visit St. Mary’s MD, I am excited to welcome Liz
Mildenstein to lead the organization,” stated Board Chair of VSMMD, Jim Grube. “We
have been diligently seeking the right fit for this position and unanimously agreed that
Liz’s background in public affairs and strategic communications, as well as her passion
for connecting stakeholders and her deep knowledge of St. Mary’s County, make her
the best person to fill this role. We are looking forward to working with her and seeing
the impact she has on the tourism landscape in St. Mary’s County.”
Mildenstein comes to Visit St. Mary’s MD with 15 years of experience supporting the
Department of Defense as a communications professional. She has worked for multiple
programs at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), in various communications roles.

to translate my experience and passion to the community where I live has been a dream
of mine. I am beyond excited to join the team and advocate for the invaluable
