WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf man has been ordered held without bond on charges that he fatally abused his 4-month-old daughter after doctors reported injuries consistent with severe trauma, according to charging documents.
Jordan Nathaniel Savoy, 28, is charged with first- and second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse resulting in death, first-degree child abuse causing severe physical injury, first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment in connection with the Nov. 23, 2025, death of his infant daughter at home.
Sheriff’s officials said officers and EMS were called to the 300 block of Barksdale Avenue about 6:45 p.m. for a report of a 4-month-old who was not breathing. Medics attempted life-saving measures and took the girl to the UM Charles Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Charging documents state that medical personnel observed bruising on the baby’s chest, chin, hip and other areas, along with swelling, abnormal pupils and additional injuries they said were not likely to be self-inflicted or accidental for a child who could not crawl or walk. Doctors concluded the injuries were the result of physical abuse and directly caused her death.
Investigators wrote that the child’s mother left for work late that morning, leaving Savoy, her boyfriend and the child’s father, to care for the infant and two other young children. She told detectives she had been worried about him watching the baby because of an earlier incident about a week before, when he reported the child had fallen from a bed and she later noticed a bruise and vomiting.
About six hours after she left on Nov. 23, Savoy contacted the mother and said something was wrong with the baby but that the child was still breathing, the documents say. A short time later, he sent her a video showing the infant appearing extremely pale and not fully conscious, prompting the mother to tell him to call 911 and leave work to come home.
When she arrived, the mother found Savoy holding the baby and began CPR until medics took over, investigators wrote. During the trip to the hospital, Savoy told the mother that any bruising on the baby’s shoulders would be from him picking her up, according to the statement of probable cause.
Doctors later documented a skull fracture, fractures to both collarbones, swelling of the soft spot on her head, bleeding in both eyes and extensive bruising, which they described as indicative of severe trauma, the filing states.
Savoy was taken to the sheriff’s office criminal investigations division but declined to provide a statement to police.
He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center without bond. A bail review hearing is scheduled for Nov. 25, with a preliminary hearing set for Dec. 19 in district court.
