WALDORF, Md. โ A driver accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake while attempting to park Saturday morning, causing her vehicle to strike a building at Mall Circle. A passenger in the vehicle was transported to the hospital for evaluation as a precautionary measure.
Charles County emergency units responded to 11149 Mall Circle around 11:33 a.m. on October 5, 2025, for reports of a vehicle into a building. According to Charles County Sheriff’s Office , the driver was attempting to park when she accidentally hit the accelerator rather than the brake, causing the vehicle to strike the building.
The collision caused minimal damage to the building structure. Officials confirmed no injuries occurred to anyone else involved in the incident. Initial dispatch reports indicated confusion about the severity due to communication challenges at the scene.
Emergency responders initially established tactical command to assess the situation. Multiple Charles County emergency units responded to the scene before most were returned to service once the extent of damage was determined.
A passenger in the vehicle was transported to Charles Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Paramedics transported the passenger with Priority 3 status, indicating non-emergency conditions. Medical crews noted the patient did not require spinal immobilization with board or collar.
All emergency units cleared the scene by 12:01 p.m. after completing their response duties.
Neither the driver’s nor passenger’s identities have been released. The passenger’s condition following evaluation at Charles Regional Medical Center has not been officially disclosed by hospital authorities.
