WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf man has been charged with multiple misdemeanor theft-related offenses after police say he broke into a vehicle, stole a wallet and credit cards, and later used one of the cards to make fraudulent purchases at a local Walmart.

Jordan Darrell Prunty, 25, was charged following an investigation into a theft reported on Dec. 21, 2025, in the 11700 block of Lancelot Drive, according to court records filed in the District Court of Maryland for Charles County.

Police said the victim reported receiving an alert from a home surveillance system during overnight hours and later discovered his wallet, containing credit cards, was missing from his vehicle. Investigators determined one of the stolen credit cards was later used to make purchases at a Walmart on Acton Lane in Waldorf.

Officers obtained surveillance footage from the store that allegedly showed the suspect using the victim’s credit card. Investigators identified Prunty as the suspect through law enforcement databases and prior familiarity, police said. Distinctive footwear seen in the store footage was also consistent with images captured near the victim’s residence.

Further investigation revealed Prunty was staying at a nearby hotel. Police executed a search warrant at the hotel on Dec. 29, 2025, where they recovered the victim’s stolen credit card and items allegedly purchased with it, including headphones and an Apple gift card.

Prunty was charged with rogue and vagabond, fraudulent use of a credit card valued between $100 and $1,500, theft of another person’s credit card, and theft of property valued at less than $100. All charges are misdemeanors.

An arrest warrant was issued on Dec. 31, 2025, and Prunty was taken into custody the same day. Court records show he was released after posting a $500 unsecured personal bond. A trial-related hearing is scheduled for Feb. 18, 2026, in Charles District Court.

  1. So, who is the genius that left their wallet and credit cards in their car? That name should be posted here for all to laugh at.

    1. How do you know it was intentionaly left in the car, I mean , you know, you go through a fast food drive through, put your wallet down after paying for your order, drive away, and in the midst of other distractions, forgot you put your wallet down. It happens, people forget, but that doesn’t give others the right to steal from another, nor does it give reason to be laughed at. It could easily happen to you or anyone else. That little punk is going to find out why they call it da pokey in jail. Now that’s something to be laughed at after he drops the soap. 😆

  2. Although it’s not the smartest idea, it doesn’t give someone the right to steal your things. He went into someone’s personal vehicle and took things that didn’t belong to him. punish him to the max.
