St. Mary’s County Public Schools was informed by the St. Mary’s County Health Department that there was a water main break on Great Mills Road. This affects the following schools: Great Mills High School, Chesapeake Public Charter School, and Fairlead Academy I. As this affects our ability to serve lunches to students, Great Mills High School and the Chesapeake Public Charter School will be closing at 10:00 this morning. Fairlead Academy I students will be returned to their home schools.
Portable water coolers and hand sanitizers/water for washing were provided to each of the affected schools. St. Mary’s County Public Schools is continuing to work under the direction of the St. Mary’s County Health Department.

Martirano, Superintendent of Schools, stated, “As always, the health and safety of our students, staff, and community are of the utmost importance so we respond immediately to any irregularities and work closely with those agencies providing support. Please know that we take any and all health and safety issues very seriously.”
