LEONARDTOWN, Md. – The Witches of St. Mary’s are set to fly this October! Join us for a free evening of fun and witchy frippery outside the Leonardtown Wharf in Leonardtown on Friday, October 25 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.!
You’re probably asking yourself Who are the Witches of St. Mary’s? YOU! ME! Anyone and everyone is invited to be a witch or wizard for a few witching hours at the Witches of St. Mary’s afternoon of fun. We’ll eat, dance, and howl at the moon! Okay, maybe no howling… But it will be light fluffy fun for ages 0-102!
The event is hosted by a group of St. Mary’s residents who enjoy dancing and just happen to have a few sets of brooms laying around. Dress in your best spell-casting costume and join these fabulous ladies for the witch dance. Dancing is not required, of course, but you might find yourself tapping your toes to the beat throughout the afternoon!
There will be a few enchanting food trucks for hungry sorcerers, and free candy for our junior witches and wizards. Bring a decorated broom and enter a fanciful broom decorating contest (no Broombas allowed!) The prize is a magical stained glass work of art by Denise Benedik. The event will also feature free Tarot readings.
Readers may be familiar with the old platitude: Are you a good witch or a bad witch? These witches and wizards are definitely the magnanimous sort! The event is free to attend, and the group is collecting nonperishable food items for the St. Mary’s Caring Soup Kitchen in Great Mills. In lieu of an entry fee, the witches request that you bring an item for donation like juice, condiment bottles, crackers, seasoning packets, and more.
This is the second annual gathering of the Witches of St. Mary’s! The organizers plan to host this just-for-fun event each year in St. Mary’s County, to celebrate togetherness with family, friends, and neighbors in the Halloween season. You can find the Witches of St. Mary’s 2024 event by searching on Facebook.
Dust off your brooms, friends. It’s time to fly!
