MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – Emergency personnel responded to a serious single motor vehicle accident on Maddox Road near Old Chaptico Wharf Road in Chaptico on April 4, 2024, at approximately 9:26 p.m.
Crews arrived on the scene to find a vehicle off the roadway and into a tree. The female driver was unconscious, with her knees pinned under the dashboard. Firefighters extricated the trapped driver within 15 minutes of arrival.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, who had multiple injuries described as a pelvic deformity and open lower extremity fracture, required a MEDEVAC. Firefighters established a landing zone at Chaptico Park for Maryland State Police Aviation Command, Trooper 2.
The patient was airlifted to MedStar Washington Hospital Center for treatment.
The police continue to investigate the crash.
