We all know and love some of the dumbest songs because of the catchy beats and easy to remember song lyrics. A lot of them are written and performed by Grammy award winning artists. It is baffling how some artists can make such wonderful tunes and then turn around and make utter nonsense. Let’s jump right in.

Cake by the Ocean by DNCE
“Ah ya ya ya ya I keep on hoping we’ll eat cake by the ocean”
The song goes on to explain what types of cake that this band would like to enjoy, specifically, by the ocean. It will only end in heartache because you’re bound to get sand in that cake… that’s just not a beach snack.

Drunk in Love by Beyonce
“Then I fill the tub up halfway then riding with my surfboard
Surfboard, surfboard”
If you can manage to not only fit a surfboard into your bath tub and then ride it, my hat is off to you. Otherwise, I think she may have been overestimating reality or she was really high when she wrote this.

E-Mail My Heart by Britney Spears
“Email my heart and say our love will never die”
While Britney has been through a lot, it concerns me that she doesn’t quite understand what e-mailing is or how it works. Wish it could be metaphorical, but there’s general confusion on both her and our ends while she figures out the internet.

Trapped in the Closet: Chapter 4 by R. Kelly
“I said my leg is about to crack/ Then she cries out/ Oh my goodness, I’m about to climax/ And I said cool/ Climax/ Just let go of my leg”
R. Kelly decided to sing about a possible real life story where obviously he needed to stretch before he started the deed. Also, do we really need more than one chapter about him being trapped in a closet… and is there a lock? There should be a lock down on his musical career at this point.

The Fox by Ylvis
“Ducks say quack and fish go blub, and the seal goes OW OW OW.
But there’s one sound that no one knows…
WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?”
The fox says nothing! Also, “saying” something is different than making animal noises. Is the seal being beaten because it’s saying OW repeatedly? This song is an epic tragedy or beautiful homage to how animals sound everywhere.
