
York, PA – The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (19-19) lost against the York Revolution (15-22) 3-2, Tuesday, May 30 in game one of a three-game road series for the team.
The Blue Crabs got on the board first in the game, putting up a run in the third off Yorkโs starter Curtis Partch (1-3). Kalaika Kahoohalahala got the inning started with a double, advancing to third on a Jose Lozada groundout. Edwin Garcia singled in Kahoohalahala, putting Southern Maryland ahead 1-0.
The Revs picked up just one hit off Daryl Thompson (3-3) through the first four innings, before tying the game in the bottom of the fifth. Joel Guzman led-off the inning with a solo shot, his fourth homerun of the season for York. The Revs took the lead in the next inning, when a Michael Burgess homerun plated two, putting York ahead 3-1.
The Blue Crabs responded in the top of the seventh, cutting the lead in half with a run of their own. The inning got rolling with another lead-off double off Patrch, this time off the bat of Zach Cone. The Revs turned to the bullpen after the double, but Cone came across two batters later, on a fielderโs choice from Patrick Palmeiro.
The Revolution bullpen shut down Southern Maryland from there, allowing just one baserunner in the next two innings. Yorkโs closer Jarrett Martin (S,4) came on for the ninth inning, striking out two in the inning, while picking up his fourth save of the season. The loss dropped the Blue Crabs back to .500 on the season, sitting at 19-19 to this point.
