Annapolis primary election 2026 mayor

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The results are in from Annapolis’s municipal primary elections held on Tuesday, Sept. 16. According to a Sept. 23 press release from the city, hardware store owner Jared Littmann will be the city’s Democratic candidate for mayor come November. Littmann will face Republican Robert “Bobby” O’Shea, who ran uncontested in his party in the primary election.

Littmann beat out city council member and Anne Arundel native Rhonda Pindell Charles with 2,594 votes to Charles’ 1,271. Certified totals include in-person, mail-in and provisional ballots.

According to his campaign website, Littmann says he wants to focus on the city dock project as well as improving parking, transportation and public safety around the city. The site also outlines customer focus, responsible government and eco-friendliness as top priorities.

O’Shea’s website says he’s running “to restore common-sense leadership and make our city safer, stronger, and better managed,” and cites reducing short-term rental housing like Airbnbs as a top priority. The winner of the election will serve a four-year term beginning in 2026.

In addition to the mayoral primaries, Annapolis residents voted for candidates in eight “wards,” each of which selects an alderperson for the city council. Democratic candidates in Wards 2, 5, 7 and 8 ran unopposed, and Republicans ran unopposed in all wards and automatically moved onto the general election.

The general election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Voting will be open between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Residents can find out more about their voter registration and polling place online.

Harry Huntley (D) — 51.06%

Ward Three
Keanuú Smith-Brown (D) — 81.53%

Ward Four
Janice Elaine Allsup-Johnson (D) — 50.70%

Ward Six
Diesha Contee (D) — 59.87%
