ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A community fundraising effort is underway after a commercial fire destroyed a Fast Signs building in Annapolis late last month, leaving employees without a workplace and prompting an outpouring of local support.
The fire broke out around 4:06 p.m. on March 27, 2026, at the Fast Signs location on Margaret Avenue, drawing a large multi-agency response and prompting a second alarm due to the volume of fire. Crews brought the blaze under control in approximately 50 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
Fire officials later determined the blaze was accidental, with a preliminary cause linked to a laser cutter inside the building’s fabrication area.

While firefighters were able to prevent injuries, the structure and its contents were heavily damaged, leaving employees suddenly without their primary workplace. In response, supporters launched a GoFundMe campaign to help staff recover financially.
As of this week, the fundraiser has brought in $14,261 toward an $18,000 goal through 79 donations, according to the campaign page.
Organizers say the funds will go toward helping employees cover lost wages, replace personal belongings, and support their families during the recovery period.
“The employees of Fast Signs are not just coworkers—they are a close-knit group who have always supported each other and their community,” the fundraiser states, adding that the loss has created significant uncertainty for the team.
Despite the damage, the business has continued limited operations by shifting production to another location, allowing customer orders to continue while recovery efforts move forward.
