ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — Living history museum Historic St. Mary’s City (HSMC) is launching a sticker design contest to tap into community talent while searching for their new sticker design. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 16, 2026. The winner will receive a couple’s membership to HSMC, a prize basket and a shoutout on social media when the winning design is announced.

According to their Facebook post announcing the contest, the theme is simply the museum and can be open to interpretation. However, designs should “clearly connect to HSMC” and should include the museum’s name or logo. Possibilities include historic landmarks on the property, like the Brick Chapel, State House or St. Mary’s Fort; 17th-century visuals like crafts, farming or cooking; wildlife seen at HSMC like deer and osprey; or farm animals popular with visitors like cows, chickens and pigs.

There are, however, specific design guidelines you must abide by in order to be eligible:

  • Sticker size: 3” x 3”
  • Shape: Circle, oval, square, rectangle or die-cut
  • File type: Any format is acceptable; vector preferred (.ai, .eps or .svg)
  • Resolution: 300 dpi or higher
  • Safe area: Keep important elements at least 0.125 inch from the edge

All submissions must be the submitter’s own original artwork, and no AI-generated submissions are allowed. No copyrighted characters or imagery are permitted, and designs should be appropriate for all ages.

Send all submissions to emma.bourne@maryland.gov by the deadline to be considered.

HSMC is a museum of living history and archaeology telling diverse stories on the site of Maryland’s first capital. They offer tours, programs, educational experiences and much more. You can view the calendar of events online or see more information about hours and tickets.
