graphic announcing public hearing about marley run recreational area

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Calvert’s Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has announced a public hearing to review the repeal and reenactment of Resolution No. 3-92.

The hearing will take place on Tuesday, April 14, at 10 a.m. in the Commissioners Hearing Room at 150 Main Street in Prince Frederick. The hearing date is subject to change and could be affected by weather conditions or another emergency. Residents are encouraged to check the county website or call the Department of Parks and Recreation to confirm the most up-to-date information.

The hearing will be streamed live on YouTube and Calvert County TV as part of the BOCC meeting on that day. Comments will be accepted in person and by phone. Residents can also email or write in their comments, as long as the comments are received by the close of business on Monday, April 13.

Anyone who wants to view the entire proposal can view it online or contact Park & Safety Division Chief Amanda Stillwagon at 410-535-1600, ext. 2226, amanda.stillwagon@calvertcountymd.gov.

At the hearing, the BOCC will hear comments about Condition 9 of Resolution No. 3-92, which currently mandates a 100-foot no-cut, no-clear buffer along Cox Road in the Marley Run Recreational area.

The hearing pertains to a text amendment submitted by Parks and Recreation to the Calvert County Planning Commission back in February. The amendment will be a temporary measure to allow Parks and Recreation to begin needed updates on the Marley Run Recreational area. Currently, Parks and Recreation cannot begin the necessary work due to the buffer zone.
