LA PLATA, Md. — The Charles County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 6 p.m. to discuss revisions to the use of funds from the Maryland Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.
The county commissioners have determined the need to adjust the approved use of previously awarded grant funds, originally designated for COVID-19 rental assistance. The proposed revision would allocate $315,000 toward a food program supporting Meals on Wheels, addressing the needs of vulnerable community members.
Home-Delivered Meals: Meals on Wheels for Eligible Seniors
Home-delivered meals may be available for eligible seniors and their spouses who are homebound due to illness or disability and are unable to shop for food and prepare meals for themselves. These meals are provided through a cooperative effort between the Department of Community Services and local Meals on Wheels providers.
For assistance, please call 301-934-0138 or 301-870-3388, ext. 5138.
