LEONARDTOWN, Md. — A new crafting studio, Craft N Stitches, opened in Leonardtown on Nov. 13. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Nov. 15, followed by the grand opening on Nov. 16.
The grand opening was a resounding success, with many community members stopping by to celebrate. Following the event, the Craft N Stitches Facebook page shared, “Crafts N Stitches would like to thank everyone who came out to make our Grand Opening special!!!! So glad we got to meet everyone and looking forward to seeing everyone again!!”
Craft N Stitches aims to bring the St. Mary’s County community together through crafts and communal games. A major highlight of the new studio is its Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) adventure sessions, which welcome both new and experienced players.
In response to inquiries about upcoming D&D events, Shannon Morgan of Craft N Stitches said, “We currently have Friday Night D&D with our two house DMs, but we are adding Tuesday Night D&D to the mix, as well as classes on painting miniatures, intro to D&D, and even terrain building in the new year. We also have an exciting D&D ‘tournament-style’ event coming in the new year with cash prizes and D&D gear for winners. But we aren’t limited to just D&D; Warhammer, Pathfinder, and others are getting started as well.”
The primary focus of Craft N Stitches remains its crafting classes, offering a variety of fun art programs such as ceramics, terrariums, wreath-making, painting, and knitting. A recent Facebook post from the studio noted, “We’ve got workshops to ignite your passion and help you master new skills.”
For those seeking unique holiday gifts, Craft N Stitches also features a selection of handmade items, including cozy blankets, holiday wreaths, gnomes, and jewelry.
The new studio is also dedicated to hosting social gatherings, aiming to create a space where people of all ages can connect and enjoy creative pursuits. Morgan shared plans for upcoming ceramics classes and hobby events: “In the new year, our ceramics classes will take off, as well as expanding our hobbies section to include model cars, planes, trains, and even Pokémon. With so much diversity, there’s something for everyone.”
Community hubs like Craft N Stitches bring residents together in meaningful ways.
