On Friday, December 19, 2025, David Keith Lantz, more affectionately known as “Lucky”, 75, of Upper Marlboro, MD, passed away.

He was born in Washington, DC, to the late Luther and Elizabeth Lantz. David served as a groundskeeper and later cleaning support services for training equipment at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center for over 17 years. During his career at FLETC, David made a huge impression on anyone he came into contact with, creating lasting friendships over the years. Not to mention keeping the center’s grounds spotless!

Prior to FLETC, he worked as groundskeeper at both the town of Upper Marlboro and Marlton Golf Courses, starting in the late 1970s. He had a passion for gardening, and with his remarkable green thumb, he had the ability to make anything flourish in any environment. David loved sharing his knowledge of horticulture with anyone eager to learn. He also enjoyed doing small engine repairs, for himself and anyone else who needed that “Lucky” touch. David built his own greenhouses, bridges over the creek, he built his own pond on his property, with the help of neighbors, stocked it with fish, snapping turtles, and some alligator snapping turtles! He could literally build anything he set his mind to do.

He also enjoyed taking walks, and loved caring for the family farm’s pets. He loved all of the classic TV shows, such as The Three Stooges, The Beverly Hillbillies,  The Andy Griffith Show and so many others. Additionally, he took care of the family farm itself and created a beautiful environment for himself and for so many to enjoy and admire over the years. David was an extremely impressive human being. With the odds being stacked against him from birth, he truly made his mark on this Earth and will never be forgotten.

He was a cherished friend to many and will be greatly missed. David was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings: Kenneth Lantz (Joy), Chester Lantz (Janet), Milton Lantz, and Mary Lantz, and his great-nephew Keith Lantz. He is survived by his nephew, Kenneth Lantz, Jr., his niece, Jennifer Lantz, and his great-nephew, Christopher Lantz.

All services will be private.
