MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A driver was transported to a trauma center after a loaded flatbed truck left the roadway and crashed into multiple display sheds Tuesday afternoon in St. Mary’s County.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. on April 14, 2026, along southbound Three Notch Road near Murphy Court in Mechanicsville.
Emergency crews arrived to find the commercial vehicle had traveled off the roadway, leaving a visible path through the grass before slamming into several unoccupied sheds believed to be part of a roadside sales display. Multiple structures were heavily damaged or completely destroyed, with debris scattered across the property.

The truck was embedded into the sheds, with significant front-end damage and shattered materials surrounding the impact area. Firefighters secured the vehicle, and no mechanical extrication was required.
One patient was transported by ground to an area trauma center.
No occupants were inside the sheds at the time of the crash.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.

Stopped in there to look at the sheds the other day. There was a SMCSO Deputy parked proactively enforcing the traffic laws. Bet he is happy he wasn’t there when this happened. Sure, looks like that truck might have been going a little over 55!
