LEONARDTOWN, Md. — The Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center will host its 26th annual Forrest Center Tech Expo on Thursday, Jan. 22, offering students and families an opportunity to explore career and technical education programs available through St. Mary’s County Public Schools.
The event will take place at the Forrest Center, located at 24005 Point Lookout Road in Leonardtown, directly across from the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., followed by a series of short, rotating program sessions beginning at 5:40 p.m.
Students will be able to visit up to three career and technology programs during five scheduled sessions running through 7:15 p.m. A question-and-answer period with instructors will follow from 7:20 to 8 p.m., allowing families to speak directly with teachers inside classrooms.
The Tech Expo is designed to familiarize students and parents with Career and Technology Education (CTE) options offered by the school system. The Forrest Center offers 22 completer programs along with four elective courses, providing hands-on learning experiences across multiple career fields.
Forrest Center staff and high school counselors will be available throughout the evening to discuss program requirements, career clusters and how students can incorporate CTE courses into their academic plans.
Additional information about the event is available on the Forrest Center website at schools.smcps.org/tech. Questions may also be directed by email to techcenter@smcps.org.
In the event of inclement weather, the Tech Expo will be rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026.
