LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A Lexington Park man already on pretrial supervision with a GPS ankle monitor is now facing nine criminal charges after allegedly admitting to using stolen credit cards in a series of transactions across St. Mary’s County.

Brandon Alexander Morris, 39, is charged with a theft scheme and multiple counts of theft ranging from under $100 to just under $1,500. The charges stem from purchases made on April 5, 2025, totaling $1,149.57 in fraudulent transactions tied to stolen credit cards initially reported missing from NAS Patuxent River.

According to investigators, the victim, an employee on base, told base police that both his government-issued and personal credit cards had been removed from his jacket. A day later, those cards were used at multiple retailers and online outlets, triggering an investigation led by Detective Zachery J. Farrell of the U.S. Navy Criminal Investigation Division.

Surveillance footage from Lowe’s in California, Maryland, captured a suspect later identified as Morris. Detectives matched the individual in the footage to Morris’s Maryland driver’s license using the MVA database. Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office located Morris at his home on May 3, where he was still under Level 3 pretrial release and wearing the court-ordered ankle monitor.

Officials say Morris agreed to speak with investigators after being read his Miranda rights. He allegedly admitted to picking up the credit cards at the Hilton Hotel in Calvert County, where the victim had been staying, and using them at various retail locations.

Transaction records show the cards were used at Citgo Fastop in Solomons, Advance Auto Parts and Lowe’s in California, Rack Room Shoes in First Colony, Thornton Chip Tuning online, Hermanville C-Store on Three Notch Road, Foot Locker online, and eBay. The chargeable amount excludes the Citgo Fastop transaction, which is being handled separately.

Following his admission, Morris was removed from the pretrial program and taken into custody. He later posted a $5,000 unsecured personal bond the same day. A public defender entered an appearance on May 6 and has since filed motions for a speedy trial and discovery.

Each charge of theft between $100 and $1,500 carries a potential sentence of up to six months in jail and a $500 fine. The remaining counts of theft under $100 each carry a maximum penalty of 90 days incarceration and a $500 fine.

Morris is scheduled to appear in St. Mary’s County District Court on June 3 at 1 p.m.
