INDIAN HEAD, Md. — An Indian Head man faces felony and misdemeanor assault charges following a Christmas Day incident that prompted a police response to a residence in Charles County, according to court records.

Niko Eugene Williams, 38, is charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault stemming from an incident reported Dec. 25, 2025, at a home on Knight Court in Indian Head.

Deputies with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence after receiving a report of a man threatening to shoot someone with a firearm. Officers made contact with multiple individuals outside the home who reported an altercation during a gathering earlier that day.

The statement of probable cause alleges that Williams became upset during an argument, grabbed a handgun, and threatened individuals at the residence while attempting to force them out of the home. Several people reported seeing Williams with the handgun during the incident, according to court records.

Police said Williams complied with commands to exit the residence and was taken into custody without further incident. A search warrant was later executed at the home, where officers recovered a handgun and related items.

Williams was initially held without bond following his arrest. Court records show he was released the next day on recognizance after a bond review hearing.

Williams is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 23, 2026, in Charles District Court.
