
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — The Arts Council of Calvert County is pleased to announce an exciting lineup of upcoming arts classes and lectures at the Kocen Arts Center. This diverse series offers opportunities for artists, lifelong learners, and curious minds of all ages and backgrounds.
The upcoming schedule includes a variety of classes and lectures:
Prophetic Arts will be held March 20 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The class offers a space where creativity and faith come together. This class is a biblically based experience where signs, wonders, and prophetic revelations are revealed.

Threadbare Tales From Silk Road is scheduled for March 21 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Local artist Jay Anderson brings his published work “Threadbare Tales From Silk Road” to life, sharing stories from his travels along one of the world’s most storied routes. The lecture weaves together history, textiles, and storytelling. The event is free but requires an RSVP.

Fish Whimsy and Watercolor will be offered April 6 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and April 25 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The watercolor workshop focuses on expressive, whimsical fish designs and is designed for both beginners and seasoned painters.

My Journey with Clay will take place April 11 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The lecture explores artist Ray Bogle’s evolution through ceramics, highlighting technique, inspiration, and the transformative nature of working with clay. The event is free but requires an RSVP.
Pressed Flower Workshop is scheduled for April 23 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The hands-on class will teach techniques for pressing and preserving flowers to create botanical art.

Yoga to Create Space, a four-week session, will be held April 25, May 2, May 9 and May 16 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. The workshop blends gentle yoga and creative intention, helping participants cultivate physical and mental space to support artistic expression. When you register for this 4-week yoga session, you are enrolling in the full series of classes. The total cost is $65, which covers all four dates – not per class. Your registration includes attendance on April 25th, May 2nd, May 9th, and May 16th. You must sign up for and attend all 4 classes!

The Art of Prosthetics: Craft Meets Care in Zambia will take place May 16 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Join artist and prosthetist/orthotist, Katie Brinkley, to explore the intersection of technical skill, artistic craftsmanship, and compassionate care in providing prosthetic services in Zambia. Through the lens of a nonprofit organization’s work, Katie will talk through the entire process of creating a prosthetic limb—from initial patient assessment and casting to the detailed sculpting, fitting, and final alignment that transforms raw materials into a life-changing device. This is a free event, but it does require you to RSVP.

All classes and lectures will be held at the Kocen Arts Center in Prince Frederick. Space may be limited; advanced registration is encouraged.
