LUSBY, Md. — A 19-year-old Lusby man accused of opening fire during a September drive-by shooting that sent bullets through a residential neighborhood has been indicted on 26 criminal counts, including attempted murder, kidnapping and multiple firearm offenses, according to court documents.
Khiantae Rai-Vaugh Marquez Robinson, 19, was charged in connection with the Sept. 16, 2025, shooting on Golden West Way. Investigators say Robinson fired two shots from a dark-colored Ford Focus as he and another suspect drove past a home where Nicholas Derick Dwayne Griffith, 25, and Timothy William White Jr., 28, were outside changing a tire. Griffith returned one shot before the car fled toward Cordova Drive. No injuries were reported.
Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office later found an abandoned Ford Focus with Virginia tags, registered to Robinson, in the backyard of a nearby home. Surveillance video showed two people fleeing on foot — one dressed in black, the other wearing a light-green shirt.
Detectives identified Asia Ta’Liyah Bell, 20, of Lusby, as the alleged driver and arrested her that afternoon. According to investigators, after the shooting, Bell and Robinson initially fled the area on foot before Robinson took a vehicle belonging to a woman nearby.
Investigators say Robinson then fled the scene in that vehicle with two young children inside. He later abandoned the children at his grandmother’s home on Olivet Road before running from the area. Robinson was arrested on Oct. 21, 2025, and ordered held without bond the same day.
When detectives searched the residence, they recovered a P80 17/22 pistol kit, a 9mm round and a 9mm barrel. The firearm used in the shooting was not recovered.
Robinson faces a total of 26 charges, including:
- Two counts of attempted first-degree murder
- Two counts of attempted second-degree murder
- Two counts of first-degree assault
- Two counts of second-degree assault
- Two counts of reckless endangerment from a vehicle
- Two counts of use of a firearm in a violent crime
- Multiple handgun and ammunition offenses
- Three counts of altering physical evidence
- Motor vehicle theft and unlawful removal
- Two counts of kidnapping a child under 16
An initial appearance scheduled for Oct. 27 was canceled. A pretrial conference is set for Dec. 8, a plea hearing for Jan. 30, 2026, and a three-day jury trial beginning March 10, 2026, before Judge Mark S. Chandlee in Calvert County Circuit Court.
Court records also show that Kamarie Jahium Davis, 20, of Lusby, was later charged in connection with the case. Davis is accused of acting as an accessory after the fact and helping conceal evidence related to the shooting.
The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active. Robinson, Bell and Davis are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
