INDIAN HEAD, Md. — Emergency crews responded Friday afternoon to a rescue involving a man who became stranded in remote terrain in the Indian Head area after being outdoors for several hours.

The incident was reported around 1:48 p.m., March 20, near Creedon Drive, with initial information indicating the man had been stuck in a wooded area for approximately four hours and was in need of assistance. Dispatchers remained in contact with the caller, advising him to stay in place while crews searched for his location.

Using GPS coordinates provided during the call, responders were able to narrow down the man’s position, ultimately locating him on top of a hill within a wooded section of the area.

Multiple specialized units, including ATV and off-road teams, were deployed to navigate the difficult terrain. Crews reached the man shortly after 2:30 p.m. and remained with him while additional resources were placed back in service.

The man was assisted out of the woods using off-road equipment and evaluated by EMS personnel. He did not require transport to a hospital and was instead returned to his vehicle.

Command was terminated shortly after 3 p.m.
