
INDIAN HEAD, Md. — Indian Head’s newest Mexican restaurant, El Tucan Mexican Grill, will soon be serving margaritas and cold cervezas alongside its popular tacos and enchiladas. The Charles County Liquor Board approved the restaurant’s Class B-R (restaurant) license on Thursday, Oct. 9, allowing beer, wine and spirits to be sold on-site.
The family-run eatery first opened in March 2025, bringing authentic Mexican cuisine and a festive atmosphere to 4356 Indian Head Highway. With the new license now approved, it’s welcome news for customers who’ve been eagerly waiting to enjoy a cold beer or signature margarita with their meal.

Since opening, El Tucan has built a loyal following for its sizzling fajitas, tacos, burritos and seafood plates, along with vegetarian options and traditional desserts like churros and flan. Prices range from $8 appetizers to entrées between $10 and $25, making it an affordable dining choice for families and locals alike.
El Tucan Mexican Grill is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Customers can view the full menu and place online orders through the restaurant’s website or call (240) 377-8217 for more information.
Update October 15, 2025– Beer, wine, and margaritas will officially be available beginning Friday, Oct. 17, 2025 — just in time for the weekend.
