NORTH BEACH, Md. — Michelle O. Crosby has been selected to serve on the North Beach Town Council, according to a press release sent by the town on Tuesday, Sept. 16. Crosby will be sworn in during the Town Council work session on Oct. 2, 2025.

Crosby will fill a vacancy left by Paul Troncone, who moved outside town limits and was no longer eligible to sit on the council. Crosby will serve out Troncone’s term, which ends in 2026 with the next scheduled election.

“The town extends its gratitude to all residents who applied for the vacancy,” said Mayor Mike Benton. “We were encouraged by the strong participation from our dedicated community members who stepped forward to help make a positive impact in North Beach. Each applicant was deeply committed to serving the wonderful residents of North Beach, and we are truly appreciative of their interest. We look forward to working with Ms. Crosby.”

“Town government is a partnership built on the vision and values of our community,” Crosby said. “My goal is to be a supportive new partner to the council and residents, fostering openness, collaboration and a shared vision that will keep North Beach vibrant and welcoming for everyone.”

According to the press release, Crosby brings extensive experience in public service, nonprofit leadership and community engagement. She currently serves as treasurer of All Saints Episcopal Church Women, vice president of the Burnt Oaks homeowners association and secretary of the Calvert Minority Business Alliance.

Crosby has also fundraised for local nonprofits, including Calvert Concept Charitable Corporation (C4) Workforce Housing and Reconciliation and Community Harvest Network, formerly End Hunger in Calvert, supporting causes that “strengthen families and address community needs.”

She holds a Master of Arts in international science and technology policy, with a specialization in applied economics, from George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Arts in international studies, with a minor in violin performance, from American University.

The council selected Crosby from a pool of applicants based on their eligibility and the strength of their applications.
