INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A woman was arrested after an altercation at an Indian Head motel escalated into a stabbing.
According to court records, officers responded to a reported assault with a weapon at a motel on Strauss Avenue in Indian Head, Maryland, during the early hours of Feb. 24, 2025.
Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with the victim, who informed officers that he had arrived at the location just before midnight to meet with his ex-girlfriend, later identified as Lisa Maria Genao, 42. Shortly after entering the room, a verbal dispute between the two allegedly turned physical. The victim stated that while attempting to cover Genao’s mouth to quiet her, she stabbed him in the upper left side of his chest.
Following the altercation, the victim left the room and sat in his vehicle for approximately 30 minutes before realizing he had been injured. He then confronted Genao, telling her that he intended to call the police. Authorities later arrived on the scene and took Genao into custody.
Genao was transported to the Charles County Detention Center, where she was charged with first-degree assault, a felony offense. Court records indicate that she was released on her own recognizance following her initial court appearance.
Her next scheduled court appearance is set for March 25, 2025 in Charles County District Court. The case remains under investigation.
