CHARLES COUNTY, Md. — Charles County has updated its Septic Pump-Out Reimbursement Program to require residents to use a hauler approved by the county health department in order to qualify for the $100 reimbursement. The change took effect Jan. 1.
The pump-out program is meant to help homeowners maintain their septic systems and protect local waterways from pollution. Regular maintenance is recommended every three to five years.
Before scheduling a pump-out, residents should check the list of approved haulers listed here. If the hauler is not on the approved list, the county will not issue a reimbursement.
Reimbursement Details
- Amount: Up to $100 every three years
- Deadline: Apply within six months of the pump-out
To apply, residents must fill out the online form and upload a copy of the contractor’s invoice. The invoice must show:
- The company’s name, address, and phone number
- The address where the service was done
- The client’s name
- The date and description of the service
- The total cost and how it was paid
Homeowners who install a septic tank riser may also qualify for an additional $100 reimbursement. Only one riser reimbursement is allowed per property.
