LOTHIAN, Md. — A motorcyclist was killed and a teenage passenger critically injured Tuesday evening, Sept. 23, after fleeing deputies in Calvert County and crashing into another vehicle on Route 4 near the Anne Arundel County line.

Deputies attempted to stop a sport bike in Dunkirk just before 8:00 p.m., but the rider sped away. The chase was called off minutes later when the motorcycle crossed into oncoming lanes.

Within moments, deputies came upon a serious two-vehicle collision in the southbound lanes of Route 4 near Talbot Road.

The male operator was pronounced dead at the scene. His teenage passenger was flown to a nearby trauma center with multiple fractures.

One person in the second vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
