SOLOMONS, Md. — Traffic on the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge came to a standstill Thursday afternoon after a three-vehicle collision prompted an emergency response and temporary closure.

The crash occurred around 12:35 p.m. on October 16, 2025, along Route 4, drawing Calvert County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency medical personnel to the scene. Responders found three vehicles involved and one person injured. Medics evaluated the patient on-site before transporting them to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to officials.

Southbound and northbound traffic was turned around as crews worked to clear the roadway. The bridge reopened to motorists around 2:00 p.m. after debris was removed and lanes were deemed safe for travel.

Deputies said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
