
DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. – A Prince George’s County man has been indicted following a violent altercation in District Heights that left one woman dead and another man injured. Raheem Markel Hawkins-Boseman, 23, is facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, armed robbery, and firearm violations, stemming from the March 17, 2024, incident.
According to court documents, Hawkins-Boseman fatally shot 27-year-old Jessica Carolyn Somerville outside a Subway restaurant on Silver Hill Road after an altercation turned violent. Witnesses reported that Hawkins-Boseman and another individual, referred to in the indictment as Suspect 2, entered the restaurant where an argument ensued with Somerville and her companions. After leaving the restaurant, the argument escalated in the parking lot, leading Hawkins-Boseman to retrieve a firearm, strike one of the victims, and ultimately fire the fatal shot that claimed Somerville’s life.
Investigators recovered surveillance footage from the restaurant, which captured Hawkins-Boseman and the second suspect during the altercation. A Crime Solvers flyer was distributed, leading to Hawkins-Boseman’s identification and subsequent arrest. Court records also reveal that Hawkins-Boseman had prior encounters with law enforcement and is alleged to have used a regulated firearm despite being prohibited due to previous felony convictions.
The indictment outlines a series of charges against Hawkins-Boseman, including premeditated murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery, use of a firearm in a violent crime, and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. Additionally, he is charged with transporting and carrying a loaded handgun, compounding the seriousness of the allegations.
